Support A Child’s Education
Ceesay Nursery and Primary School is an education charity run entirely by unpaid volunteers in Europe with support from small team of paid staff in the Gambia, West Africa.
We change lives by providing opportunities for academically gifted and talented children and young people, living in extreme poverty, to access education.

About Us
Our Beliefs
- Ceesay Nursery and Primary School Charity believes that access to education is a human right.
Article 26, paragraph 1, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states:
“Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages….Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.”
- Our aim is to ensure that Gambian children from poor, orphaned or disadvantaged backgrounds, have access to this basic right, which we all have enjoyed. Simply speaking, our goal is ‘to level the playing field’ in whatever way it is in our power to so do.
- Access to education bestows the precious gift of CHOICE, so taken for granted in our Western societies.
This is especially true in the case of girls in the Gambia. 70-80% of the children we find sponsors for are girls.
